Christmas Every Month
Some of us are making gifts for Christmas throughout the year
so we can take are time and make what we would really
want to give.
Sylvia was asked by a friend if she would make her a
Striped Christmas Runner with all the ribbons she had been saving
from gifts and chocolates.
Sylvia has made many of these now.
I teach Christmas Runners from the start of September,
so they can be made in time for Christmas.
I add and demonstrate a new pattern each year at classes.
I already have an idea for this years!!!

Textile Thursday
The first Textile Thursday for the year took place at The Art Room and there were a lot of 'Show and Tell'. The Christmas Runners and place mats were beautiful. A skull and cross bone quilt is on its way to be piecing. I have a new PA for Thursdays, Caroline, helping with bookings and organising which is really fantastic and she gets me sorted out even more!
Textile Thursday is at 1A Rash's Green, Toftwood. Dereham.

Table Runners at Knit Wits Class

There are lots of different table runners being created at the
classes and these were ones that students had and they just needed
friendly persuasion on how to put them together and finishing.
The bottom one is from Canada and brought as a
pack but the instructions were using different rulers to what
are available here in the U.K. We all love the applique bears and the
border fabric which is to go on next.
The one above is a beautiful Christmas Runner,
very Swedish Inspired.

Bags and Runners

Christine has had two sessions and really gets on with
homework to get projects done.
Some students come to class to learn the
tips and tricks of how to improve techniques
and the social side of meeting others who make.
Christine's bag is so good and even has
a key holder inside, along with several
pockets for quilting supplies.
Irene Starts a Christmas Runner

Irene came for an afternoon session at Knit Wits.
She wanted to make a Striped Christmas Runner
using my white and gold one as inspiration,
(see another students one, similar to mine).
Irene wants hers large enough for a Refectory Table.
She had collected all the ribbons and some fabrics.
After laying the ribbons down on a calico base it
was obvious it needed a lift and
Irene got out of her bag of fabric there was some Angel Fabric.
We all thought it was fabric to look at rather
than cut up but it was perfect as the patterns
were in strips.
It looks so Medieval and so fabulous.
Well done! Irene.
I was so lucky as Irene gave me her scraps of the
Angels and some brocade ribbon.
I knew where it would be placed,
on my Architecture Artwork.
Thank you.

White and Gold Christmas Runner

Textile at the Gallery this week was a
very mixed with lots of finishing and
starting new projects.
Sylvia has finished her Christmas Runner.
She followed mine as inspiration and used
some lovely new Christmas Ribbons.
I just love the crispness of this pattern and
it goes together quite quickly in the strips.

Gallery Tuesday 20th September 2011

As usual there is lots of creating on 'Gallery Textile Tuesday'.
I take along inspiration and them students can make similar items
but with their own fabrics and flair.
Above is a Christmas Table Runner Sylvia is making.
Well, we had to start making gifts for Christmas!
Below is Brenda's Scissor Case.
See more Scissor Cases by clicking on the written labels below.
They are all different.

Some of our new members are trying different techniques.
Here Sara is learning how to piece patchwork,
straight out of the scrap bag. This piece is being
made ready to learn how to machine quilt on.

Carol has made lots of quilts in such a short time.
Here she is finishing an heirloom quilt that came into the
charity shop where she volunteers. It needed finishing
and needed a backing. We had lots of fun making
the seams match!
Carol is famous for her un- picking!!!
