Small Purses and Rotary Cutter Holders

Along with the small purses I showed how you
could make a quick rotary cutter or scissor holder.
Keeping scissors and rotary cutters safe in your bag is so
important so having a nice holder is great.
It often becomes a talking point too as they are all different.

Textile Tuesday 17th April 2012

Barbara has really perfected Crazy Patchwork and it shows here in her Scissor Case. Made with scraps and in a similar tonal range with lace and added embroidery, it is so subtle and beautiful.

Gallery Tuesday 3rd April 2012

On a Mixed Media Tuesday, there is always so many different projects going on and I also share inspiration, so there is lots to choose from. From the top Jeanette had finished her Antique page using a photo of Sylvia's Grandfather. ( This had been transferred onto fabric and stitched on). Some of the pieces of media were antiques and had stories to tell themselves. See more of Jeanette's pages by clicking the written label below. Jenny had finished her granddaughters corset and had put all the finishing touches of lace and trimmings to it, fabulous!
Mandy had finished her Dresden Plate mat, this is going under her sewing machine to stabilise it and so it is easy to push out of the way across a table. We thought it was too good to hide under a machine.
More crazy work patchwork with Barbara making another Scissor Case, beautifully colours and trimming choice and Crazy work blocks which will be made into a quilt for Maria's new niece.
As for the bottom picture this was just before we started, Jenny had ordered lunch but we all decided it needed sharing! It can be a bit like that a times, with lots of laughter too!

Fresh Green Projects

Lots of fresh crisp projects being made and finished.
Ann is in between projects at the moment,
so decided to make a scissor case, very crisp!
Looks very modern.
Barbara finished her Green Cushion, it
looks and feels very luxurious and also very
modern by the design and fabrics she chose.
It is 20" square so quite a big one too!

Gallery Tuesday 20th September 2011

As usual there is lots of creating on 'Gallery Textile Tuesday'.
I take along inspiration and them students can make similar items
but with their own fabrics and flair.
Above is a Christmas Table Runner Sylvia is making.
Well, we had to start making gifts for Christmas!

Below is Brenda's Scissor Case.
See more Scissor Cases by clicking on the written labels below.
They are all different.

Some of our new members are trying different techniques.
Here Sara is learning how to piece patchwork,
straight out of the scrap bag. This piece is being
made ready to learn how to machine quilt on.
Carol has made lots of quilts in such a short time.
Here she is finishing an heirloom quilt that came into the
charity shop where she volunteers. It needed finishing
and needed a backing. We had lots of fun making
the seams match!
Carol is famous for her un- picking!!!

Scissor Cases

Well done, Sylvia and Barbara for finishing your
Scissor Cases, they look fantastic.
I am teaching this project regularly and they are all so
amazing and different.
If you use this idea please credit me with your inspiration!
I will be teaching this project at Knit Wits in Dereham,
in September.

Scissor Case

Barbara has made a needlecase using up all her scraps of
'Confetti", as I call it. The ends of the material you cut off material
while you are making projects. It looks great.
Her scissor case above is nearly finished just the
wool trim and beading to go all round.
See more scissor cases and how they are made by

Crazy Patchwork Scissor Case

Barbara loves 'Bling' and admired my Scissor Case which
holds my sewing kit and scissors.
It is in the top photograph. I made it ten years ago, from
Jennifer's pink velvet trousers.
It is covered with crazy work patchwork and lots of
trimmings and trinkets.
You can see Barbara has made the back and front
and they are ready to be embellished.
I am available to teach this as a workshop,
to a group or at my studio.
Contact me for details.

The Scissor Cases

The pattern for the Scissor Case looks very Japanese, I just had to photograph them in a fan shape.

All they need now are their buttons to secure the tab and keep the scissors and Rotary Cutter in place. I love the triple pockets!

Thank you again Pat! and everyone who made our workshop day such a success.
