Dresden Plate

Dresden Plate is always a popular pattern at classes and here
Muriel has used up all her scraps to make these wonderful
plates to start off her blocks.
I use the straight top blade method and then machine stitch
across the top, open up and you have a point.
Muriel is going to add them together with
Machine Embroidery Blocks in between.

Classes at Cancer Care Dereham

I have been teaching Textile Thursday
at The Cancer Care Moving on Project,
since 7th March 2013.
Two sessions on the Thursday.
10am until 12.15 and then 12.30 until 2.45.
See HERE for more information
The atmosphere is lovely and everyone is so friendly.
We do lots of Textile projects and it for beginners to experienced alike.
There is inspiration each week and help with your own projects.
It is £8.50 per session and half goes towards the centre as a donation.
It is a great way of showing our support.
I feel so lucky to be able to support charities while I work and share.
There are different things going on each day at the centre.
The volunteers are all trained and
are there to help anyone touched by cancer.
Pop in and see what the centre is doing
and if you can help support events.

Textile Thursday

Textile Classes are always fun and so many amazing textiles are created.
We 'Show and Tell, every session and this inspire others.
I share a technique each week and there are so many techniques
the worlds are oyster.
There's lots off laughter too!
Mo above, is making a cushion/ pillow for her daughter to
take in her pack back around the world.
She was telling us some of her stories!
I love bag making and I show different ones each month.
The ones above are based on sixteen 5" squares, with
a twist.
What a session!

textile Thursday is all about Quilting of all different types.
This week it was all about Quilts!
Here HeatherAnne is sharing her Japanese inspired Quilts.
We had a good 'Show and Tell' about how they were made and
what patterns were called and how they were put together.
HeatherAnne had used two different ways of putting the quilts together.
'Quilt as you go' and Whole quilt pinning.
Thank you HeatherAnne for sharing.

The Art Room Dereham

Textile Tuesday and Thursdays are going well at 'The Art Room',  Dereham.
The Tuesday sessions are 10am until 12.15 and 12.30 until 2.45pm.
You need to book so contact  me on 01760 337181 if you want to book or
find out information.
There is lots of inspiration and lots of sharing and laughter.
The bottom photograph shows Jo demonstrating how to machine a buttonhole.
It's always typical though the machine decides to play up as you want to share!
After re threading and positioning it worked and perfect button holes.
Lots of buttons are being used at the moment as you can see with future posts.
A time to sort out and play in the Button Box!

Textile Thursday

The first Textile Thursday for the year took place at The Art Room and there were a lot of 'Show and Tell'. The Christmas Runners and place mats were beautiful. A skull and cross bone quilt is on its way to be piecing.  I  have a new PA for Thursdays, Caroline, helping with bookings and organising which is really fantastic and she gets me sorted out even more!
Textile Thursday is at 1A Rash's Green, Toftwood. Dereham.
