Jeanette's Time Book

As some of you know who have been following my blog for some time I encourage making mixed media pieces and making them into pages for books. This way you can sample a technique or investigate a subject and use all the unusual treasures you collect and put them into an object you can enjoy time and time again. Time was the topic Jeanette chose for her pages and the end result is above.

Gallery Tuesday 3rd April 2012

On a Mixed Media Tuesday, there is always so many different projects going on and I also share inspiration, so there is lots to choose from. From the top Jeanette had finished her Antique page using a photo of Sylvia's Grandfather. ( This had been transferred onto fabric and stitched on). Some of the pieces of media were antiques and had stories to tell themselves. See more of Jeanette's pages by clicking the written label below. Jenny had finished her granddaughters corset and had put all the finishing touches of lace and trimmings to it, fabulous!
Mandy had finished her Dresden Plate mat, this is going under her sewing machine to stabilise it and so it is easy to push out of the way across a table. We thought it was too good to hide under a machine.
More crazy work patchwork with Barbara making another Scissor Case, beautifully colours and trimming choice and Crazy work blocks which will be made into a quilt for Maria's new niece.
As for the bottom picture this was just before we started, Jenny had ordered lunch but we all decided it needed sharing! It can be a bit like that a times, with lots of laughter too!

Jeanette's Picture for a Friend

Jeanette collects lots of pieces of textiles together when she is beginning a project. She always combines lots of techniques with really good results. This textile picture is for her friend, it contains the cut offs of her bedroom curtains!

Mixed Media Textile Book Pages

With Jeanette making a new picture for her friend using
the same technique she uses for her book pages,
there was the request she brought them in to show.
Here they are so far.
Aren't they amazing?

Autumn Leaves

Jeanette finished this mixed textile last year and has
had it framed by Haydn @The Gallery.
It looks amazing, sadly I couldn't get a really
good photograph due to all the lights in the
workshop room.
It will be hanging in The Gallery this week,
so well done Jeanette.
It's lovely too as Jeanette doesn't like painting
fabrics!

Book Page Inspired by Whitby

This is another one of Jeanette's finished pages.
Inspired by Whitby as you can tell with the gothic
shell of the Cathedral.
They are so richly decorated.
Lots of mixed media techniques were involved in this piece.
Well done Jeanette!

Jeanetta Sculpiturio

I put on exhibit @The Gallery my new mixed media sculpture,
'Jeanetta Sculpiturio'.
It is a column 6ft tall and 16' wide.
Inspired by architecture, Venice,
intricate surfaces, jewellery and
Jeanette, one of my students!
Jeanette makes wonderful mixed media textile pieces
such as 'Bolliwood' and 'Leaves'.
See HERE
She also makes
intricate textile boxes.
Jeanette starts in a similar way to I do, with the inspiration.
Then collects lots of medias together and then compiles
ideas and sections together.
Where we differ and what makes me chuckle is,
Jeanette hates painting and getting messy!
I love paint, inks and getting stuck in with gooeyness!
I will work on this with her as she has expressed
that she wants to make a section of the sculpture
which has painted lace arches on, so we shall see!
