Kings Lynn Embroiderers Guild Exhibition 2013

The Kings Lynn Embroiderers Guild Exhibition this year
was lucky enough to exhibit the Guild Members collection
of Olympic Postcards.
The postcards were on display at The Olympics and
they are now part of the Guilds permanent collection.
Each Guild Group was given a country and then members had to depict
it, in stitch within the postcard format.
There were so many it was hard to choose a favourite.
The Members work was diverse and individual as always.
I had submitted pieces for the table.
A Lace Book, a Sketchbook exploring Metal Work Textiles
and a Contemporary Suffolk Puff and Embroidered Panel.
The cakes were delicious and sparkly,
I just had to have one with my tea!
What an inspirational exhibition!

Plastics and Serendipity

We met on a Saturday for the workshop with Elizabeth
on 'Exploring With Plastics'
we started with grating crayons in between cling film an
by the end of the day I think we had fused every none plastic to man.
Including shower curtains and plastic swimming rings.
We found out how to collage them together
and in the afternoon we started to stitch.
So much fun!
Daphne also had her Birthday so we celebrated with cake and candles.
The Red Cross Hall where we met had also opened the
shop so we all went in to buy and recycle!
A fantastic day and you can see we had some fantastic results.

Kings Lynn Embroiderer's Guild

March Embroiderers Guild meeting was pretty busy
with plans for the Exhibition, getting to know new members
and making cards and embroidered items for the exhibition stall.
I met several new members, Daphne who makes
exquisite small embroidered pieces like the butterfly above.
They are so delicate and must take hours to make.
She too has a log cabin studio in the garden.
I also met Avril that embroiders blackwork and
she had designed a new design with the skull and bones.
All in Blackwork stitches!
I sat, chatted and made the embroidered card.

Embroidery Guild Exhibition

The third exhibition I got to see on Friday was the
a selection of members from The Kings Lynn Embroidery Guild.
They were exhibiting in the Kings Lynn Museum.
A wonderful display of mixed media textiles,
many intricately covered with embroidery and stitch.
sadly because of the museum location and exhibits my photos
are rather dark and doesn't show the some vivid colours
used, such as the vibrant orange velvet, dyed and
stitched by Sandra Beech.

Embroidery Guild Talk

This Wednesday evening I gave a talk to my local Embroidery Guild,
in Kings Lynn.
I was asked to talk about my Quilts of Quilters Cottage.
I took over a hundred quilts and enjoyed telling the stories
behind them.
It was lovely as I am a member and the group had loads of questions and
were really lovely.
Thank you Barbara for taking photos.
I am not one for having photos of me but I hid behind
my wares 'quilts', a lot of the evening!

Jenny's Guild Talk

On Wednesday at the Guild, our booked speaker
was unable to attend so
Jenny brought along some of her work and gave us a really interesting talk.
She told us when ,how and her inspiration.
Even tips of what to use.
There were so many interesting items and
techniques she had used,
it could have kept us busy for hours.
Her work for City and Guilds was wonderful and the textiles based
on Sutton Hoo were outstanding.
The piece above was based on one of te treasures,
Jenny s also giving aworkshop on the 19th of June
on Hooked Rugs.
I booked in and I am sure it's going to be an interesting day.
