Embellished Flower Brooches

While we were having our textile session at Cancer Care
Beryl popped in with some of her Embellished Flower Brooches.
For the Centre to sell at their coffee morning which they hold once a
month on the last Tuesday.
Beryl has been coming along to textiles for 18 months and her first
session with me was on the Embellisher Machine,
she fell in love with the technique and got a machine immediately.
She is now a master and her Embellished Flower Brooches
 don't stay unsold for  long,
as you can see by the hand coming into the photo!

Pat's Covered Notebook

With the scraps left over from making the folded bag.
Pat made some patchwork and has covered a notebook.
Pat went to a Quilters Guild meeting where they asked
if people could cover books or wrap books for
The Guild raffle in August,
at The Festival of Quilts, NEC Birmingham.
See a video on how to cover a book on my Tech site

Textures With The Soldering Iron and Stitch

As some of you know who follow Quilters Cottage Norfolk
and the classes we have been doing a lot of
layered work, using different fabrics, stitch and the
soldering iron!
Above is two very different items, a purse and a book cover.
Both using the technique but then adding their unique
creativity to it.

Gallery Day 28th February 2012

On Textile Tuesdays there are many different medias
being created as you will see by the next posts.
Above, is Jenny's Embellished Sketchbook.
Sometimes we all need encouragement to do things
a little different and Jenny has made this
cover differently to what she has before.
Also she has been inspired by PINK!

Sara's Finished Work

Sara has worked hard since September
completing several different projects
which take many hours to complete.
They are beautiful!
The Strip Patchwork Butterfly Wall Hanging,
is Sara's first go at scrap bag patchwork and
free machine quilting.
The Pink Notebook was a piece of felt,
embellished using an
Embellisher Machine and lots of lovely
scraps of fabric, then
machine embroidered. Sara then added
more embellishments by hand.
The top photograph is a wall hanging based
on crazy patchwork and a corset shape.
Lots to follow as Sara forms her portfolios
and sketchbooks.

Floral Felted and Embellished Sketchbook

I always try and make a sketchbook cover in
embellished felt when I am making a new
colour range of felt.

Jeanette's Notebook

Jeanette had been on a workshop recently to make backgrounds
and the flowers.
She wanted to incorporate them in the
embellishment of notebook covers.
She had brought several little notebooks and wants to cover them for gifts.
By adding some gold threads
( which she had to go and buy from The bead Shop in Dereham)
and some extra quilting it gave this cover a real lift.
The cover was then finished off by making a lining which
slips off if necessary.
I have used many different methods of finishing sketchbooks
but this one called for some jewel coloured lining
to give it the added luxury.

Notebook Covers

With the India Inspired Banner in mind
I have been delving into my scrapbag of ribbon like fabrics.
I will admit I do sort my scraps into colours or projects so
I can return and make other items from them.
(I think everyone has their favourite media or colour range).
So the scraps are all sewed together with
machine stitch and then machine embroidered
over the top of this.
Embellished with thread and more stitches.
