Last Card Making Session

Wednesday Card Making took place after a
slight hicup with arrangements and
we got going on making these,
'Oo La La Girls' as Kim calls them.
Very sassy and very sparkly.
Also, making and combining them with detailed backgrounds.
Glitter everywhere and I was really happy with my girls!
I made mine for Aunt Bets 70th and she has been known
to be Oh La La in her day!
But by the end of the day we found out that, that
Kim was unable to do any more sessions due to
work and conflicting times.
So sad, as we have all enjoyed Kim's wonderful
inspiration, sharing and encouragement.
Thank you Kim and I hope we will still be
inspired by you on your blog

Dressmakers Card

Wednesday morning it was Card Making Class
with Kim @The Gallery.
I have had a couple of weeks off and I have missed
the card creating.
It is so relaxing and creative, it's lovely being a student
sometimes!
Kim is really clever in how she makes her
cards and shows us how to create ones
with her inspiration but our images.
I want to add a safety pin in the top corner
and then I feel it is finished.

showing us how to make an, 'Exploding Box'.
My brain just took off and I made my box about textiles.
Well, Textile Tuesday.
You make the box in four parts. The three inside
pieces and the lid.
See the finished box in next post.

Card Making Friday 13th January 2012

When I got home from Quilt Class on Thursday
there was a message on my answer phone that
there was a space on the card making afternoon
at Gill's Studio in Kings Lynn due to a
cancellation.
I love going to Gill's Card Making Shop and Studio,
as I always have a list of things for card making I can only
get there.
As you can see we had a wonderful time making
this Victorian Lady Aperture card.
Lots of Printing, cutting, making and painting
using Distress Inks.
There was a new lady starting, a complete
beginner and I learnt lots too!
I came away with my stash that grew as I
in my wisdom arrived early to class and
had lots of time to browse!!!!

Card Making Wednesday 11th January 2012

On Wednesday Kim surprised us with two tri-folded shutter and
concertina cards as examples to make.
They looked very intricate to make but we were
soon measuring, folding and cutting.
I chose mine to be very Mediveal in feel.
This is how far I got that morning and I will
See my finished card and a video on how to make it

Card Making Wednesday 30th November 2011

Wednesday was card making with Kim and I
was feeling a bit slow and needed to sort out my
tools and card making stuff before I felt I could do
anything creative.
You know when you feel you need to have a slow day?
Once I got going I learnt about how to distress paper and tags
using a distress tool. I then sat distressed tags for a while and watched
others create their cards.
Kim then showed us some of her new
Christmas stamps and that was it, I was off and
inspired. I stamped and inked, embossed and prepared
papers and fabrics with the new ideas.
I had a lovely morning,
Thank you Kim.
When I got home there was a Thank you card (above)
from Will the new owner of the Commission Quilt that
I have been working on over the last few months.
Will had made the artwork and card.
Thank you, Will!

Finished Folded Christmas Card

I really enjoyed making this Tri Fold Christmas Card
but hadn't estimated the amount of surfaces you
have to cover!
I used my Tim Holtz Blending tool and inks a lot
in this card, to age the card and papers.
Some of the stickers and pictures I have
had in my stash and not known what to use
them on.
The tag turned out really well and I
will probably make more of those.

Card Making Wednesday 1st November 2011

On Wednesday it was Card Making Class with Kim.
Kim is showing us different ways of using
card making equipment to make
Christmas Cards.
Kim also showed us how to make a box for our
3D cards.
I love the time to create and learn
with different media.
See another great box pattern video
The paper dollies are colour blended with
distress inks.
I decided to make vintage version and
use a multi- fold blank.
I didn't realise you have to cover so many surfaces!
They are turning out o.k though.
I will continue these next week.

On Friday, I got a call from Jill at
'Jill's Crafting Studio', to say there was a
space in her afternoon class and
would I like to come along.
I jumped at the chance and off I went.
Jill's Card Studio Shop is so light and airy and
inspirational.
We were soon making a Tri Folded Christmas Card.
(See mine above). Two hours went so quick and
it was lovely meeting other card enthusiasts.
I am still at the beginner stage!!!!
Learnt lots and enjoyed the time.
Thank you to Jill and the ladies.

Lace Book

Wednesday was card making with Kim @The Gallery.
We were continuing to use the embossed book templates
and add dry embossing to our cards.
Sylvia had kindly given me several books on
card making the day before and it spurred me on
to mix my medias as usual.
I wanted to add lace and metal work.
I went shopping before the class at
Bead this Craft That for lace, pearl beads on a string
and anything that caught my eye.
(I have a craft budget each week to keep me in check an
often add weeks together to save for the larger items!).
See Bead This Craft That's website
We had a wonderful morning and all our cards were
very different. I love learning new skills and then
experimenting with all the different medias.
I will continue this Book Card over several sessions.
I have since found a lady on You Tube who has made
beautiful cards using this technique and medias

Card Making Wednesday October 5th 2011

On Wednesday Kim brought in Embossing Boards
for us to try and I needed to make a card for
nicole's Christening.
I wanted to make a card with the 'N',
similar to the Cushion and Quilt we had
made as the Christening Gifts.
We learnt lots of techniques as usual
and as you can see I made a 'N' card!

Card Making Wednesday 28th September 2011

Wednesday was card making with Kim Crop.
She gave us the challenge of making cards for men!
It's harder than you think because there are only
so many themes that are appropriate.
I chose to make a card with a decoupage sailing ship.
I used lots of layering of stamping and papers.
I even decorated the envelope this time!

On Friday the 23rd of September ,

to me not being tip top and the lovely things still
happening everyday!).
I went to Larna Crafts and Wool Shop in
Downham Market to have a card making workshop
with Elaine. We made an Easel Christmas Card.
My first Christmas Card of the year and I am
sure it will be one of many made!
It was a lovely morning and we all had lots
of fun with cutting, talking and 'GLITTER".

Card Making Wednesday August

On Wednesday it was Card Making with Kim
@The Gallery.
You can see we were all busy creating our collaged cards.
It always amazes me that we start with the same
art materials available but we all create different cards.
Kim wanted us to try more collaging in this week.
I learnt alot more tips and storage solutions too!
We had a wonderful morning and in the afternoon
Kim and I put the mornings photos on her new Blog.

Kim Crops New Blog

On Friday I went to Kim's Home to show her how to set
up a blog and get her wonderful work on the world wide web.
Kim teaches Cardmaking and Scrapbooking
@The Gallery on a Wednesday morning.
She is an inspirational teacher with the way she uses
equipment and her vast papercraft knowledge.
We had a lovely day and I got to see
her Crafting Studio! WOW!
Everything is so organised and she
has loads of tips, see some on her website.
Thank you Kim, for a lovely lunch and sharing your day.
