April Coven Quilters

Once a month the Coven Girlies meet up and I love these evenings, they are the best medicine with sharing and laughter. The quilts and cakes we share are spectacular. Jane in the top photograph made her quilt out of a jelly roll pack that she got as a gift for her birthday. Kate showed us how her square quilts were being quilted.
Barbara has nearly finished her Star Quilt and as it is so big, she has sent it off to Jennifer at Watton to be long arm quilted. This quilt was started 10 years ago and is based on my Star Quilt I have made which hangs in my studio. It was also made with home dyed fabrics.
 What a lovely evening.

Barbara's Star Quilt

After our meal we were all feeling so lucky to be together
and on a day time too!
The Riverside had really made a wonderful meal.
I had driven into town and parked at Barbara's,
so we all went in two cars.
After the meal I went back to Barbara's and
she wanted to show me her Star Quilt progress
and ask some tips.
It looks fantastic and I am so proud of
Barbara for being able to crawl all over the
floor and get up again!!! :))

Friday Morning With Barbara

On Friday morning I went to help Barbara,
(one of the Coven Quilters) with
a Star Quilt she had started sometime ago and getting
the pieces out again, she wasn't quite sure how they all go together.
There were strips missing from each piece and picking up a pattern
you have left for a while is always difficult.
A real puzzle!
We laid them out on the floor and it then started to come together.
I laid my original Star Quilt underneath and we began to
concentrate on one side of the quilt.
Three hours later, half the quilt star was assembled.
It will look fantastic.
Barbara hopes to give it as a gift when it is finished.
See my Star Quilt on the right of this post.

Star Quilt

With the weather being so lovely at the weekend
I was able to take my large king size Star Quilt
outside to photograph it.
I hand dyed all the Star fabric and over dyed the batik corners.
It was all cut out by rotary cutter to aid the precise piecing.
I machine pieced and quilted it.
This is one of my favourite quilts.
