Jo's First Creative Textiles Session

Jo has not long moved to Norfolk and has come along to her first
Textile Tuesday Session @ The Art Room.
She brought along a quilt to show us, which we all admired
and she was soon joining in with 'Twisted Squares and Hexagons'.
We also admired her very neat sewing bag which is a recycled
car cleaning bag. Very nifty and such a good idea.
Jo admitted the car cleaning kit is long gone but the bag is great.
We all love to see how others store and arrange their sewing supplies.
Thanks Jo and lovely to see you.

A Gift for a Mum

Sue had been inspired by the sewing tidies the week before @The Gallery Mixed Media Textile Tuesday's. She wanted a gift for her Mum who spends a lot of time now in a chair and so came up with a basket of flowers as the weight part of the tid. This is just beautiful and very clever gift. Well done Sue.

Sewing Tidies and Sewing Machine Mat

When new students come to class they often see lots of 'Show and Tell' and what they thought they wanted to make immediately often changes. Two such new students came along and this is what happened to them too and so they wanted to make the sewing tidies above and then go onto the sewing machine mat to. As you can see they are really useful and fun items to have as part of your sewing kit.

Sewing Desk Tidy

I am a great believer in serendipidy.
I also encourage 'Show and Tell'
of finished projects etc.
Gloria has finished
her strip cushion and came to class not sure what she wanted
to make and wanted to be inspired with the projects
I show each week. Gloria had been in one of
Dereham's local thrift shops just before coming to class too
and brought
metres of blue and red silk that had
just been put out as she walked into the shop.
She immediately brought it, thinking that
she might be able to make something with it
at class. It is raw silk and beautiful!
When she took it out of the bag we all
went oooo!!! and yum
because of the colours and the look!
Gloria saw my sewing desk tidy and wanted
to make one, she had brought upholstery fabric
with her but it was a united vote that she made
hers out of these silks.
Well after the 2 hour session, you can see it finished
above We all wanted one as it is lovely!
Gloria kindly gave me some of the silks
with a wink in her eye,
" We'll see what you can make out of it!".
Cheeky but how lovely!
Thank you Gloria!

Art Tidy

Almost every week I make Art Tidy's for commissions.
This one was the latest one.
I teach students how to make their own when they
want a quick project to make.
