Brenda's Photo Quilt

I promised Brenda I would put her wonderful Photo Quilt that she made for her Grand Daughter on my blog so she could share it with friends. She made a Sampler Block Quilt and in between she put a photograph of her Grand Daughter in all different stages of her life. It is truly beautiful and also contains laughter, fun and secrets! She gave it at Christmas and her Grand Daughter is over joyed it stayed downstairs so everyone who visited could see and share. Wonderful!

Princess Cushion

Thursday Patchwork and Quilting Class always has a lot of show and tell. The classes are very popular as students can make their own projects and as you can see Ann has made a start on a floor cushion for her granddaughter making her the feature! Beautiful! This is another successful item combining patchwork and photo transfer.
The stripped patchwork and quilted runner was made by Ann's Mum, so you can see it is often a three generation class. The cushion has been finished and the Little Princess loves it.

Textile Evening Class

I teach an evening class at Kitwits in Dereham once a month, usually the first Wednesday.
I show inspiration and patterns and students can have a try at these or do their own project. Mandy wanted to use the photo transfer of her new kitten on a quillo and this is nearing completion. I do regular photo transfer sessions so people can personalise their work and gifts.
I love seeing all the different projects come to life and the evening is really fun.

She collected together photos, clothes and items
from different ages and time.

Andrea had fun stitching the photos and items on the
pages.
It was lovely to here the stories at 'Show and Tell'.
Now finished the pages have pockets with little
bags of first teeth, badges and keepsakes too!

Photo Keepsakes

On Monday 20th of February I got into my studio
and finished making the Photo Transfer Lace Keepsakes
that I wanted to make the girls of Coven Quilters.
The idea being I would
present them at our Yearly Dinner.
Paddy took our yearly photo on Kate's sofa in January and
I knew I wanted to make something from it to remember
as I have been teaching photo transfer for the last month.
The lace background is all bits of lace, curtains, silks,
satins, ribbon and wool free machined down around the
photo and then made into a cushion filled with lavender
and stuffing.
I was really pleased and signed them all on the back.
The idea being all the girls could sign each one as
it went round the table while we were waiting for our meal.
Making a very special Keepsake.
It was lovely all week knowing we would be meeting for lunch.
We normally meet in the evening!
I'll post photos later.

Photo Transfer at Knit Wits

As you probably know I have been taking my
printer and prepared fabric to all of my classes
so students can transfer their photos onto to fabric for
projects and keepsakes.
All of the photos have had wonderful stories behind
them and have taken many down memory lane.
They will make another leap into life with the
items that they are being made into.
It's been like magic! seeing the images
emerge onto the fabric for all of us.

Transfer Your Favourite Photograph

Here, are another Mother and Daughter enjoying
creating their textiles together.
Both transferred their pet photographs onto fabric and
developed them into cushions.
I just love Maria's sheep dog cushion.
As they left Maria brought in her
10 month old puppy into the doorway,
he was so soft and cuddly!
and wooed the class.
This month has been lovely so far seeing all the
photographs being transferred onto fabric
and projects full of memories are being
created.

Transfer Photographs and Print Onto Fabric

This month I have taken the printer and prepared
fabric into classes so students could experiment with
photo transfer on an ordinary printer.I explained how they
could have a go at home if they wanted.
There has been so many wonderful photos and
pictures come in for transfer with stories and
memories attached.
I love the sharing of creating!
These fabric images are now being made into
wall hangings, cushions, albums and keepsakes.
Just lovely!

@The Gallery Tuesday the 31st of January 2012

Class was full as usual and there were lots of projects
starting and gathering momentum.
I have taken in the ink jet printer so that
students could print their photos onto fabric.
There are so many different ways of using the
photo fabric images.
