I get to walk an Alpaca

"Smile we are having our photo taken.
Do you have to keep eating your breakfast?"

"Now you and me are having a little chat!
You will behave and walk nice and finish your breakfast!"

"See everyone else? they are starting to walk, are you ready?"

"Come on, you me, an afternoon walk!"

"Come on, Ohh not more food!"

Alpaca Day

Every year Stewart and I give a Sunday to fundraising at
"Azsu, Alpacas of Norfolk"for Cancer Care.
It's normally the last Sunday in July.
We set up a mini exhibition and demonstrate
carding and embellishing (dry felting).
It's a great day, we arrive early to see all the Alpacas being divided up
into their different fields and the babies are so cute!
This year Jenn came to see what it was all about and went for
a walk with one of the one year olds.
She loved it!

16 Square Bag

Nikki has been making bags from her Alpaca Tweed fabric.
She and her family have an Alpaca Farm just outside Dereham.
See her website HERE
It is wonderful to think that Nikki looks after the Alpacas and
then sheers them and then the hair is made into fabric which is then
made into luxury fashion and goods.

Nikki's Bag

Nikki has finished her bag made with the fabric made from her
Alpacas. Notice it has buttons too!
This has been a challenge due to the tweed and it wasn't able
to turn inside out of the lining so a binding was used.
Great bag and Nikki is now making her next one.
It takes 16 squares and a little origami!

Alpaca Farm Visit

After card class on Wednesday I went off to
Nikki's Alpaca Farm at
near Shipdam.
Nikki took me round the farm and introduced me to
many of the different Alpacas and a few Llamas.
We stood in one field and she called them in!!!
90 Alpacas and several Llamas came running towards
us at great speed!
As they got closer the brave ones in this case a little
brown female called 'Suki', stopped for a close up,
right next to the lens and then blew warm air in my ear!
Their version of a kiss.
She then needed to be fussed constantly on her neck
and followed us around.
Nikki is amazing with them.
Their eyes are so beautiful and gentle.
It was a lovely experience.
I was visiting because I am participating in
the Craft demonstrations using the Alpaca Wool.
I am Embellishing and visitors can have a go too.
The Open day is the 30th of July 2011.
11am until 4.30pm.

Alpacas and the events.
