Beautiful Bags

Creative Textiles is really getting know for inspiring

lots of different bags and several ladies are

getting a reputation for being'Bag Ladies',

in the nicest possible way. 

The top bags are made by friends Val and Jo.

They chose their fabrics together at the Duxford Show 

and then had a bag making day!

They are just a bit bigger than the ipad and have

some wonderful clasps and embellishments on them.

Beryl made the appliqued  hexagon decorated bag.

Love the shape!

The mini hand bags are ideal gifts and Carol has had 

some fun making them.

I inspire at least two bags each month aswell and 

'Show and Tell' just inspire everyone.

Embossed Metal

I have got a lot of pictures and news to share and I have been 

asked by students, family, friends and Caroline's Mum to update my Blog. 

So here goes....

Above, is a drinks can that has been embossed with a shell and sea 

themed embossing plate and then coloured with acrylic inks.

Elaine had the plate for her birthday and we all had a lovely

time embossing with it. 

So, thank you to Suze for giving it as a gift and thank you to

Elaine for sharing. 

Some of the embossing plates are really detailed

 and you can pick out so many areas to use in your work.

Is just one of the companies that has some really good plates.

Just remember when cutting your drinks can to be 

careful of the sharp edges.

Mousehole Cat Dream Catcher

Gill has nearly finished her Dream Catcher based on the

story of the Mousehole Cat for her final piece for City and Guilds.

The ideas and techniques are so varied and colourful.

Great fun too!!

Caroline, Show and Tell

Caroline has been with us 6 months now and she is 

really getting addicted to sewing! 

She has brought a new sewing machine and is

trying out all the machine stitches and programming in

new embroidery patterns all the time.

We all loved these "Show and Tell".

Metal Samples with Embroidery

These are some of the samples that were produced at the class and 

continued at home. 

They are so rich in colours and so varied.

Jewelled Bag

With teaching lots of metal work, students 

like to make their samples into a projects so here is one of the bags, 

inspired by Klimt.

Lots of metal foiling and stitch. 

Jayne's Stall

I love supporting local events especially when they are raising

money for charity. 

Jane' one the Tuesday Girls had a stall with her friends in Swaffham

to raise money for the Dereham Cancer Care Centre and Future Sense.

With me holding classes there it was even more of a pleasure.

There were lots of hand crafted items to look at and with the

weather being so good there was tea and cakes in the garden.

I brought several cards and a peg bag from Jayne. 

I needed a new one and it is a lovely addition to my line.

She was a bit embarrassed and several people said,

"Aren't you going to make one?"

My reply,

Not like Jayne's it is beautiful!
You can see them hanging up behind Jayne in the photo.

Brian- wooden toys, bird boxes etc

Louise- unique bespoke personalised cards for all occasions.

Rebecca- assorted beaded brooches and assorted items.

Alice- unique fabric handicrafts framed.

Julia- beaded bookmarks etc

Ann- individual cards for al occasions.

Jayne- assorted textiles and wooden handicrafts.

Elly- Jewellery

Ray-woodturning.

Trish- cake stall.

We should all support events like these as people are

putting their heart and sole into them.

Skull and Cross Bone Quilt

Another Anne made a Skull and Cross Bone Quilt for her Grand Son.

This is Anne's second quilt!

The quilting is all different sizes of skulls!

So really well done!

Anne learnt so many new techniques and she is now starting a

red and white stitched quilt.

A Table Runner and an Owl

Muriel has made several table runners as friends see the ones around

her home. This one has machine embroidered quilting

motifs in each of the middle squares which

really add to the design.

Muriel also had some fun with making her owl!

Matishall Football Team Cushion

Anne has made this cushion for her Grand Son and it looks like 

she will have to make a few more for the team.

Each of the footballs are made of appliqued hexagons and

hand embroidered.

Mackerel Beauty

Gill has been making a Dream Weaver Design 

for her final project for the City and Guilds Creative Textile Certificate, after

enjoying making and exploring Dorset Buttons. 

Each circle is exploring a different 

dream of 'The Mousehole Cat'.

Baby Quilt

Brenda has also been making a cot quilt for her new Grand Daughter.

Brenda hasn't made a cot quilt like this before so she was trying out

new techniques and stitches.

Brenda's Bag

Brenda has made two "Windmill Bags' now.

One for herself and this one is for a friend.

I just love the floral lining with the taupe and spot outer fabric.

It gives the whole look of the bag a lift.

Dragon Bookmark

Carol made a Dragon Bookmark for her Grandson from

the embossed and coloured metal.

Such a lovely dragons face!

Textile Metal

We have had a couple of weeks embossing and stitching metal.

Everyone started with a drinks can but the results

are all different!

They are embossed with plastic plates through a Cuttle Bug or

by drawing with a ball point pen.

The metal is then coloured with Acrylic Inks, Staz On Ink Pads,

Glass Paint or Nail Varnish.

The metal is then cut out in so many different and applied with

the sewing machine using a variety of stitches to textiles.

Many made cards, brooches, bookmarks and bags.

I will be teaching more of these creative metal work and recycle

days this summer.
