Patchwork and Quilting Class

Thursday at Knitwits is Patchwork and Quilting Day. There are two sessions and there is different inspiration each month and session. Ann finished her amazing red strip block wall hanging. There is a lot of stitch and embellishing on it. A real work of art. This week I also demonstrate how to make yo yo flowers. Classes start again in September. Seethe session list  HERE 

Knit Wits Quilt Class 23rd February 2012

The Patchwork and Quilting being created at Knit Wits Classes

is so varied and I love seeing all the different things being made.

I inspire with weekly projects and a monthly topic and

students have their projects that they want to make.

At the top Roz was making Mug Mats for herself, her office and friends.

The picture below shows Ann's striped wall hanging.

Its ready for trimmings and embellishments.

Floral Wall Hanging

Carol has been wanting to make a Textile Wall Hanging

for some time for her living room. Over the last few weeks she

has been piecing and appliqueing the flowers

in different stitches to it using an embroidery machine too!

It is really looking something.

Wall Hangings at Knit Wits

These are small wall hangings made from recycled

items.

I encourage textile recycling in my sessions and

many of my students are enjoying the freedom

of making things from items that they find or are

now looking at items differently and how they

can be remade.

The Garden Scene below is made from a bottle cover.

Class was full as usual and there were lots of projects

starting and gathering momentum.

I have taken in the ink jet printer so that

students could print their photos onto fabric.

There are so many different ways of using the

photo fabric images.

Indian Wall Hanging

Barbar finished her sari fabric wall hanging.

It is really sparkly and really colours a room,

it's fantastic.

PInk Mixed Media Wall Hanging

Sara finished her wall hanging over the Christmas Holidays.

It is really something else and shows so many

techniques.

Barbara's Indian Fabric Inspired Wall Hanging

Barbara had brought some wonderful Indian

sari fabrics and she has been working on

her India Inspired Wall Hanging for a couple of weeks.

It is really colourful and makes you feel good

with all it's colour and glitz.

India Inspired Wall Hanging

Barbara has been inspired by some of the

India Inspired Wall Hangings that I have taken

to The Gallery over the last few weeks.

She also took a trip

to Kushions and Kwilts at Hunstanton

where she brought the lovely squares of sari fabrics.

Barbara wants to learn how to heavily

embellish the piece.

Fantasy Trees Textile Wall Hanging

Pat has been working on this wall hanging on and

off between other projects since the beginning of

the year. There are so many different

textile layering techniques.

Pat started off with a white piece of calico and

a tree design which she had drawn in an Art Class.

Each tree is individual and is covered in detailed

artwork and stitch.

Pat made her label and stitched it on.

Well done Pat!

I have never seen anything like this anywhere.

Unique!

and we all love unique!
