Embroidery Guild Exhibition

The third exhibition I got to see on Friday was the
a selection of members from The Kings Lynn Embroidery Guild.
They were exhibiting in the Kings Lynn Museum.
A wonderful display of mixed media textiles,
many intricately covered with embroidery and stitch.
sadly because of the museum location and exhibits my photos
are rather dark and doesn't show the some vivid colours
used, such as the vibrant orange velvet, dyed and
stitched by Sandra Beech.

7 Again

The second exhibition was 7 Again a Textile Exhibition
at The Greyfriars Gallery.
It is a lovely gallery to visit and the textiles were
shown off beautifully.
The work of 7 artists working to themed pieces,
each responded in their own technique and made
miniature works such as postcards for sale.
Frances Baldwin one of the artist
showed me round and talked about the different works.
It is on until the end of July 2011.

Vancouver Quilt

I was a member of Samphire Quilters and was on the committee
who designed and assembled The Vancouver Quilt,
blocks made by the members of Samphire Quilters.
George Vancouver the inspiration as he was born in Norfolk.
I made the map and compass and put many of the sections together.
The Coven Quilters stem from that Committee who
for over a year put this 2000 project together.
The quilt hangs along with the 800 Quilt in
The Jaol House of Kings Lynn.

Samphire Quilters Exhibition

On Friday the 15th I went to a trio of exhibitions in Kings Lynn.
I started off in St Nicholas Church with the
Samphire Quilters Exhibition.
Wow!
What an impact when you walked through the door.
The Quilts and Stained Glass window were
dramatic with colour.
There were quilts of all descriptions hanging all
around the church, the pews looked amazing.
They had a wonderful sales area, where I
brought some Christmas Presents!
yes, I did say Christmas! I start early!
Joan Sands a local artist was drawing and painting and
there was several stands and ladies quilting.
Joan is one of the 16 artists participating in another
exhibition at The Kings Lynn Art Centre
