At Alveva Quilters 'Show and Tell', Liz

showed us her latest buy, an original Norwich Shawl.

I was unaware that they were so large as I have only seen one folded

up, so it came as quite a surprise.

Hindolveston Textile Exhibition

Every two years the Textile Exhibition by The Hindolveston 

Textile Group at Brancaster Staithe

Village hall is spectacular with lots to inspire.

Kathy Bach was on hand to show me some of the work 

and we had a catch up too!

I was so busy taking it all in forgot to take photos!!!

U3A Downham Market Workshop

About every four months I get to teach for the Downham Market U3A

(University of the Third Age).

We have such fun and this time, 

ooo look at the cakes:))))

They wanted to New York Beauty by precision piecing.

Quite a challenge as there are some beginners in the group.

But you can see by the photo at the end they were still

smiling and more!

All Was Quiet Then A Quilt Got Put Together

The Textile Thursday started off with 'Show and Tell' and

creativity and then Janet said,

"I am ready to put my quilt together".

So all hands on deck to move the tables around and then

the very large quilt sandwich began.

Lots of pins and laughter later patchwork becomes a quilt

and is ready for the quilting together.

The back was turned over to check, no wrinkles and admire

the handy work.

It is a reversible quilt for Janet's Grand daughter and we are

so proud of Janet because it is her first.

It is amazing.

Liz has done some really big projects over

the last couple of years. 

A kings sized quilt for her daughter in Australia.

A Comfy Chair Cover and here a Patchwork Box Cover for her

Fathers Travel Trunk.

She loves designing the 3D items!

An inspiration.

Labels Bag

I know I may have shown you this bag before but

Hilary came back off holiday and I just

had to take another picture. It is so inspiring made of 

labels and bits.

It makes you smile:)

Japanese Lily Bags

The second bag for June was The Japanese Lily Bag.

A small drawstring bag made out of two squares of fabric.

Suze inspired but couldn't tell me the instructions so I went away 

and played. They have been so much fun and so varied.

Jester Bags

Every week there is a different bag or item to inspire at Textile Classes

 as well as

'Show and Tell' and work that I am creating.

The Jester Bags above are quick gift bags and great fun to make.

Sampler Quilt

Eileen has finished her Sampler Quilt with

bias binding since this photo was taken.

It's a real wow!

Dresden Plate

Dresden Plate is always a popular pattern at classes and here

Muriel has used up all her scraps to make these wonderful 

plates to start off her blocks. 

I use the straight top blade method and then machine stitch 

across the top, open up and you have a point.

Muriel is going to add them together with 

Machine Embroidery Blocks in between.

First Evening Class at Aldiss Court

This was the first evening class the Wednesday after

we moved in. 

Creativity as usual, ironing sewing and lots

of ironing.

Heather- Anne ironed out all her blocks so we could 

see them finished. She is making a quilt for her Daughter in Law.

Anne had finished a bag for her Grand Daughter to put all 

her crafting things in when she visits. 

"Start them young", we always say!

First Textile Tuesday at The Art Room Aldiss Court

OO I can see by adding this photo I am two months behind 

posting. Can't believe it's been two months since we moved in to

Aldiss Court. Got lots to share with you.

We moved in on the Saturday and this was the first 

"Textile Tuesday" after. So not bad in just three days.

Still a little bare but lots has happened since then and

lots of creative things made.

The Bags were made by Val at a Workshop at Watton

with the 'Hackers Tackers and Stuffers'.

Kew Gardens

The Art Room Students and Tutors all went for the Summer 

inspirational trip to Kew Gardens.

It was amazing we must have taken at least 500 photos each and there 

was so much inspiration for future work.

I went round with Pat, she had a motorised scooter as it is so 

far to walk for someone waiting for a knee op.

I saw far more because we went round smelling and looking at the flowers,

enjoying the trees at

a very steady speed as the scooters are set at walking pace.

Some of the fruits and seeds in the hot house really set the

mind racing!

It was funny at times though because Pat had to turn round at

The Japanese House and ended up in a ginkgo tree!

We had a wonderful time in the Galleries too!

It is a place you can visit time and time again and never run out 

of inspiration.

Bird Pegs

There are a flock of these Bird Pegs around Norfolk now.

I think Meg has a whole aviary of her own as she has

many fund raising events to make for.

Lots of my students love coming along to share and 

inspire others to make.

I affectionately call them "Elves", as they are constantly making

for others and raise lots of money for charities and make people

smile:)  

Cheeky Owl

There have been many an Owl made since February this year

and this one has great character with his wings and cheeky eyes.

Liz made it fabric she brought back fro her Australian Holiday.
