Hilary learnt how to do the Twisted Square and Cathedral Window

combined at class and then made this great Cafetiere.

It looks really stylish and very Japanese inspired.

Folded and Twisted Hexagon Flowers

These are some of the Folded and Twisted Hexagons that the participants on 

Textile Tuesday made. The fabric hexagon is one that fits an A4 width of paper. 

You need them large to begin with because the hexagon

flower will end up half the size.

It was a real morning of concentration due to all the folds and 

needle techniques.

I had started with the easier Twisted Square to begin with

so they weren't overwhelmed by all the folding.

Some went away and made enough to make a bag!

You join each hexagon flower by putting right sides together and

 over sewing.

Christmas Decorations

On the 7th of December I got together my display

for Knit Wits Thursday Q&A Day, the last session

of the year for me.

While prepping I decided to make several of the

Ribbon Folded Catherine Wheel Decorations above.

I brought the kit when I was at Chilford Quilt Show

in November.

The kit contained all the bits you required to make one of the

Decorations and a really good set of instructions.

I brought four of the polystyrene inserts that you

pin the folded ribbon to, as I always like making

different colours.

Studio Day with Maggie and Kim

As you may know I open my studio throughout

the Summer for Students to come and work.

Most want to use the large table to finish and

bast their quilts.

I usually close my doors in September but

Kim asked me if I would do a special day

for her daughter Maggie to come along and

make something for a Birthday Treat.

(Kim is the Card and Scrapbooking Tutor

@The Gallery).

Maggie is 15 years old and is inspired to

have a career working in textiles.

Kim came along as the taxi driver and to

make some cards in my space!

It was a lovely day and Maggie brought along

Mum's sewing machine and learnt all about it

and got to play on my embroidery machine too!

Folded Cathedral Window

Folded Catedral Window Patchwork and Quilting is always nice to

see as you respect the amount of folding and precision involved.

Jenny and Marion gave us a Demo of how to do it.
