Machine Embroidered Leaves Nearly Finshed

Jeanette is now adding the last pieces and finishing touches to

her textile wall hanging.

It is a wonderful piece of work with so much detail.

Every leaf is different!

Fantasy Trees Textile Wall Hanging

Pat has been working on this wall hanging on and

off between other projects since the beginning of

the year. There are so many different

textile layering techniques.

Pat started off with a white piece of calico and

a tree design which she had drawn in an Art Class.

Each tree is individual and is covered in detailed

artwork and stitch.

Pat made her label and stitched it on.

Well done Pat!

I have never seen anything like this anywhere.

Unique!

Demonstrating Felting and Carding

I was demonstrating feltmaking all day and Stewart

was using a drum carder all day!

There was so much interest.

He was carding and showing the difference between

sheeps' wool and Alpaca.

We had tubs of the different types of wools

to show the difference and my

mini exhibition showed how the wools felt

in different ways, wet and dry methods.

It was a wonderful day.

My Stand at The Alpaca Farm Open Day

Last Sunday Stewart and I was at The

Alpaca Farm at Cranworth, Norfolk for their Open Day.

I was there demonstrating wet and dry felting.

I had a great Stand area where I was

able to se up a display of felt work,

a wet felting area and an embellisher area.

We had two embellisher machines, which were

felting away all day with the felting public

and in between Stewart was carding and I was

layering up wool to make a piece of wet felt

and showing the process in the afternoon.

I always try and make a sketchbook cover in

embellished felt when I am making a new

colour range of felt.

This is made with floral scarves and muted wools.

Another favourite colour of mine and this started my

love of using the Embellishing Machine off.

My 'Blue Moon", embellished piece then became the

picture for my business card.

Red Felted and Embellished Cards

Assome of you know I love the colour red and I am

drawn back to it when I make cards.

These ones are all felted and embellished.

Then beads and machine and hand embroidery are added

afterwards.

I have needed to build up my collection of cards for the

exhibitions and events I have to attend this Summer.

Red and Blue Embellished Cards

After Judith left I started beading and embroidering

my felted and embellished cards.

I love this combination of the rich reds and blues.

The flower type one in the middle reminds me of

a textile artist's work by another Judith who makes

"Heart Felt Wishes",

It was not intentional but it obviously came out with the

made felt design.

Studio Day with Judith

On Friday Judith came along to Quilters Cottage for

a Studio Day,

to finish her large double quilt.

The corners had to inset and the borders were

put on.

She also learnt how to use her new sewing machine.

Very nice one too!

She wanted advice on how to quilt a baby quilt

that she is making for her Niece in Spain.

So learnt how to do free machine quilting.

I think she will be straight stitching this quilt this time

and then practicing some more.

I tell everyone it takes practice.

We don't just get in a car and start driving it.

We have lessons and practice.

Skills of any description take time and practice!

We had a lovely day but sadly it was a little

to cold to sit on the veranda and have lunch.

Christmas Quilt

I know it's early but I have to start

Christmas Quilting now otherwise I

never have enough time to get a decent amount

of items together to do the shows I am invited to.

I finished quilting and put the bias binding on it,
