Machine Embellished Needlecase

I encourage my students to save all the edges and scraps they cut
away as they might come in hand for other projects!
I like placing and bonding my collections all down,
then free machine stitching all over.
This fabric, I then add surfaces, print and stitch to.
Above, Barbara has made this beautiful needlecase
by using all the off cuts and trimmings from her
India Inspired Wall Hanging and a floral gauze.
The sparkly sari pieces just add that glitz.

Visitor to the Wednesday Card Making Class

While we were starting to make our cards, Helen
one of my new Students walked in and thought it
was 'Textile Tuesday'. We all had a giggle as we
have all mislaid days at some time or another.
Anyway, she stopped for a cup of tea, chat and showed us
the quilt she is working on, a
Block of the Month called,
'Patchwork Shop'.
The Blocks are a mixture of patchwork, applique and
embroidery. Helen's blocks were beautiful.
She also showed us her finished
Embellished Needlecase she started making the week
before @ The Gallery, 'Textile Tuesday'. It looks great,
Well done! Helen.

Knit Wits Quilt Day 8th September

Thursday the 8th of September I held my first
Patchwork and Quilting Classes at Knit Wits
of Dereham.
I had eight students in the morning and
eight in the afternoon.
These first classes were for beginners.
After explaining a basic sewing kit and showing lots
of inspiration on strips.
The first project was a Striped Needlecase.
As you can see above everyone did fantastic
for their first lesson and in only two and a quarter hours.
Well Done everyone!
Bill and Fiona have made a lovely classroom next
to the Fabric Department.
I have taught Mixed Media Textiles @ The Gallery Dereham
for two years so I hope I can teach as long and
enjoy it as much at Knit Wits.
On the 14th, Knit Wits holds it's
first Patchwork and Quilting Evening Class.
I doing a mixed patchwork project class.
On the 15th Folded Bag Day Classes.

Purple Striped Needlecase

I am teaching Patchwork and Quilting Class
at Knit Wits in Dereham,
starting on the 8th of September with
a beginners class.
I will be running through the basics of P and Q
each week and this week we started with "Strips".
This case is one of the starter projects so students
will have something to put their needles, pins and
small scissors in it.
It is now in the window advertising the classes.

Scissor Case

Barbara has made a needlecase using up all her scraps of
'Confetti", as I call it. The ends of the material you cut off material
while you are making projects. It looks great.
Her scissor case above is nearly finished just the
wool trim and beading to go all round.

Embellished Felt

Brenda started last week @The Gallery by
embellishing a background fabric in all blues
with a hint of green.
She had in mind to make her friend a gift which was
so unique and different to anything she had given before.
Brenda had admired the embellished needlecases and
started. Well first session went so quick
for her she embellished her felt and then
mastered embroidery stitches on my sewing machine.
This week was the flowers, leaves and beading.
Inside is lined and has felt pages.
I think it is really beautiful and feels
wonderful to hold.
Her friend is very lucky.
Well done Brenda!

Embellished Needlecase

Stella made an embellished felt needlecase.
She had a very small one which had been made
for her by a Brownie over 20 years ago.
(See picture above)
It was a shame to put this aside so
it was sewn inside the new case.
A lovely item and keepsake.
It made us all smile:)
