Chernobyl Auction

Sunday 25th of September Stewart and I were

on Kitchen Duty at the Chernobyl Auction.

It happens every month to raise money for the

lorries to take supplies to the,

'Forgotten People of Chernobyl'.

John was back on the podium as Auctioneer

and it was lovely to see.

LIfeline for Chernobyl

After a quiet family holiday weekend Stewart and I

went over to the Lifeline 4 Chernobyl charity

on Sunday. We were on the refreshment team for

The Charity Auction.

The lorry arrived to pick up the trailer

and soon it was on it's way with it's new driver, Ann.

Ann has just past her test to drive artics for the charity!

and she' s driving to Russia! in a convoy.

Well done Ann.

The trailers leave from Hull this week.

They will be going out again in January 2012

so fund raising starts today all over again.

John was up and around a little after his op to see the lorry

go and keep and eye on things. Paulene was in charge of

the Auction.

It was a good 4 hours of bidding and refreshments

and when the Auction had finished

it had been a good one.

More Quilts for Chernobyl

Barbara and Liz had kindly made and donated these quilts

for The Lifeline 4 Chernobyl Charity.

As you may know Weeting Quilters have collected over

100 quilts from quilters all over Norfolk and Suffolk.

These quilts will be going out to Belarus in September.

Lifeline 4 Chernobyl Charity.

people who are continually affected by the Chernobyl

Disaster 25 years after the event.

Quilt Show Stands

At the Quilts for Chernobyl there were several stands.

Diane and myself on a book stall.

All the books had been donated for the day by Joan

who you can see in the photo directly above

having a demonstration by Sandra Beech,

our local thread and fabric dyer.

The books were part of Joan's niece's collection who

also sadly lost her life to a brain tumour.

The money raised from selling the books,

was also helping the hospice who cared for her

and £9.50 went to the exhibition event.

Thank you Joan for this, as it added another

special help to our event and we were able to help

in a small way your hospice charity.

Ida was on the Bag Stall, well with all the bags she

has been making she felt quite happy to help.

Thank you to everyone for helping make the day

a happy one.

Quilts for Chernobyl

On Friday evening Stewart, myself, Chris, Angela and David

(one of Anne's sons and daughter in law),

set up the Exhibition at Weeting Village Hall.

Ready to open on the Saturday.

The Quilt Exhibition was to show all

the Quilts for Chernobyl that have come in so far,

over a hundred! and hand them over to

John and Paulene from the Charity

Lifeline for Chernobyl.

Considering the weather it was a wonderful event

and raised over three hundred pounds.

Weeting Quilt Group

On Thursday I went over to the home of Chris,

the Chairlady of Weeting Quilters where I am a member.

We got together to launch 'Weeting Quilters Blog!

Weeting Quilters are also having an Exhibition on the 16th of July 2011.

Of nearly 100 quilts made and donated by quilters around

Norfolk and Suffolk.

Quilting Beginnings

This is the quilt sewn by the beginners in a few hours at the Weeting

Quilters meeting.

It was a wonderful meeting and all are welcome to help make,
