In Stitches Blickling Hall Exhibition

Stewart and I had a Saturday off and went off to
The In Stitches Exhibition at Blickling Hall.
We love going there and enjoy the journey, the exhibition
the gardens and the pub lunch!
An all round day.
We did the 5 mile walk this time.
The work was outstanding as usual, hundreds of pieces of work
made by just seven Norwich Textile Artists.
Pat Burkes was as inviting as ever and I got them to have a photo.
See Julie Smith's website of
exquisite embroidery.

Textile in Focus

Textile in Focus at Cottenham near Cambridge
was on 15th, 16th and 17th of February this year.
I went on the Friday as usual and was bright and early as it opened.
Did my usual go round taking everything in,
I met up with lots of friends  and caught up on the latest projects.
Brought lots of goodies which I will post later.
The Exhibition in the sixth form was outstanding and the demonstrations
by artists such as Linda Monk and Jenny Furlong were
very informative and inspirational.
Above, is Sharon Osbourne in action.
She is so inspiration and her made books are out of this world.
There is a no photograph rule now at Textile in Focus
but Sharon always lets us as she thinks its important to share.
What do you think about this, photographs or not?

Embroidery Guild Exhibition

The third exhibition I got to see on Friday was the
a selection of members from The Kings Lynn Embroidery Guild.
They were exhibiting in the Kings Lynn Museum.
A wonderful display of mixed media textiles,
many intricately covered with embroidery and stitch.
sadly because of the museum location and exhibits my photos
are rather dark and doesn't show the some vivid colours
used, such as the vibrant orange velvet, dyed and
stitched by Sandra Beech.
See more of our Guild work on the website

7 Again

The second exhibition was 7 Again a Textile Exhibition
at The Greyfriars Gallery.
It is a lovely gallery to visit and the textiles were
shown off beautifully.
The work of 7 artists working to themed pieces,
each responded in their own technique and made
miniature works such as postcards for sale.
Frances Baldwin one of the artist
showed me round and talked about the different works.
It is on until the end of July 2011.

Through The Eye Textile Exhibition

On Saturday, Stewart and I went off to the North Norfolk Coast,
to a Textile Exhibition
called "Through The Eye"
at Brancaster Staithe Village Hall.
It was put on by The Hindolveston Textile Group.
Wow! when you walked in the door you were met by friendly
faces and the array of different mixed media textile work.
The work was breath taking and much to admire.
Even through some you were able to identify techniques
or stitches, the combination and thought of each piece was
wonderful. There was something there for everyone
to admire. Stewart especially like the two 'mask'
pieces on the stage.
Well done, to all who exhibited and helped to
put on such an inspiring Exhibition
and we look forward to more of the
groups Exhibitions.
