Textures With The Soldering Iron and Stitch

As some of you know who follow Quilters Cottage Norfolk
and the classes we have been doing a lot of
layered work, using different fabrics, stitch and the
soldering iron!
Above is two very different items, a purse and a book cover.
Both using the technique but then adding their unique
creativity to it.

Quilting Thursday at Knit Wits

Thursday is Quilting Classes at Knit Wits of Dereham.
This week it was Sketchbook Covers.
I had lots of books and covered sketchbooks to show
them.
They then enjoyed making their own,
which you can see above.
Well done to all those who took part.
Some students also showed me items that
they had finished from previous weeks lessons.
You can see a list of my workshops and dates
The fabric department in the Knit Wits is really
filling up with a variety of patchwork materials.
I find new ones each week!

Purple Sketchbook Cover

This sketchbook cover started as a piece of
strip patchwork which I had quilted all over with stitches.
I then stamped leaves on the green contrasting squares
with 'Staz On' Ink and ironed to fix the ink.
These were then over sewed these to the front and back.
I added a lot more darker purple stitches to add more detail
and definition.
Follow the 'How to Cover a Sketchbook', video if
you want to know how to out the project together

Diary Cover Finished

I finished putting the diary cover together today.
It looks really good and will be great to put all
my teaching dates in.
As Judy commented before,
"A cover makes them more personal".
