Wool Batts have arrived

When I got home from teaching @The Gallery,
my neighbour came round and handed me a parcel.
I was so pleased, as it was the Wool Batts I had ordered from
World of Wool late Friday afternoon.
They are so beautiful and ready to use for felting.
You can also get synthetic wools for using on the embellisher.
This stash is for my wet felting demo at the weekend.
I would recommend World of Wool for their service
and prices.

Dyeing Fabric Day

After doing a few jobs in the garden I decided to do
some fabric dyeing. I had been thinking about it for
a few weeks and had got all the things together.
I had use Dylon Dyes, that I had some from previous
dye day along with a couple I had been given.
I fix them with salt and soda, so it is really easy to do.
I used old cotton sheets and some dyed fabrics which
were a little pale from last time, these were
all dyed in plastic bags.
Each bag has some dye put in and the salt and soda
and given a good mix, you can either add the fabric or
mix in some cold water to dilute the colour.
Leave to cure!
I love rinsing the fabrics out and hanging on the line to see
the colour range.
I dyed blues, reds, yellows, green and purple
with a few mixed shades in between.
On the line above you can see the yellows going into
orange and red.

Dyed Felt and Wool Tops

Went to Cottenham, near Cambridge yesterday with Mum and Jenn. Typical as we set off the weather decides Norfolk is going to have a snow storm and as we left Norfolk into Cambridgeshire, rain!
The Exhibition and textile demonstrations were fantastic and Jenn came away with a new title for a body of art work and alot of ideas! we both liked Sharon's demonstrations on the Embellisher and her way of using Tissuetex (brought some and the wax to seal it!).
As you can see I brought some dyed felt and wool tops to continue working. Also brought some more procion dyes and soda ash. At the time I thought I would be able to do some snow dyeing but as we neared home after a wonderful day the snow had turned into hard rain and the snow we had left behind had gone!
The day was topped off by showing what we had each brought and enjoying a Sunday roast which Stewart had been preparing while we were out.
Felt inspired, lucky and nicely tired out!
